The Croft Stables
Oliver & Katherine bought The Croft Stables in September 2019, the yard is ideally positioned in Upper Lambourn and surrounded by world renowned facilities, giving the horses a range of training options.
There is easy access to the gallops on quiet lanes and the very best options for veterinary care within the village. We also have access to an equine swimming pool and salt water treadmill to supplement the training routine and help rehab injuries, both a short walk away.
The Stables
The boxes are well ventilated and have windows to allow the horses to socialise. They have been refurbished with Quattro wall and floor mats, ensuring a soft and padded stable and painted with Stable Shield antibacterial paint to help keep the boxes clean.
Equilume lights have been installed in each box, giving the horses a range of benefits from the latest technology of blue-enriched light to enhance their performance, keep coats shiny and further prevent bacteria in the stable.
Horsewalker
A custom built Claydon walker has been fitted, the horses use it daily to warm up before their work outs.
Dogbone tiles have been added to provide a cushioned, non-slip surface and lights have been installed so the walker is safe to use on even the darkest winter mornings.
Paddocks
There are 3 acres of turn out, with individual paddocks and one larger field so the horses can enjoy regular turn out throughout the year.
The field is enclosed with horse rail and high tensile foal wire, so they can safely spend time out in the field to socialise and relax in a more natural environment.
Lambourn Gallops
The Jockey Club facilities provide over 8 miles of turf gallops and 7 miles of artificial gallops over a range of gradients, which are all maintained by their groundsmen.
There are also excellent schooling facilities, including turf and artificial surfaces with a range of fences and a 60m x 40m menage.
UpDown Gallop
In addition to The Jockey Club gallops we also use Jamie Osborne’s new facilities, which include a 3 furlong Wexford sand round gallop.
This adds a different layer to the training, with horses able to work on both reins on the deep surface to build up stamina and muscle.
